Investing in yourself will always be the most worthwhile investment since you are the one to gain from it and the one most responsible for its growth. It is up to you to determine what investments better you in the long run. I know for me it is trying to get a budget together to pay a team to finally get some big boy animations together.

i put a fuckton of effort into animating the fourth comic of minus and coloring/shading so i ended up paying somebody to paint the backgrounds.
pretty happy with the result and want to resume work on an incomplete sequel in the future

You missed the mid 2000s golden age of flash and a few other things like way back when television was actually cool.
Back in the day youtube was mostly pirated and took forever to load and since flash files transfer and load way quicker flash was the only real option for online animations, had lots of features for interactivity which is almost gone these days
